Dedication church schetch

January 28, 2007 brought cold winter winds and low temperatures to the Northwest corner of Jo Daviess County and the village of Schapville. Yet inside Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church the congregation and guests were warmed by the spirit of God at a Dedication Service that was so emotional that words can't do it justice. From the voice of Mary Hill of Galena, the songs played by the organist quartet, special music from Melody Jabeck & Leigh Stoewer, a song sang by the SOTH choir and songs sang by those present made an emotional impact. Pastor Dell Olson, Assistant to the Bishop, gave the sermon, Pastor Art Stees, former pastor of SOTH, did the readings.  A dedication of a picture of St. John and Zion Lutheran church (former name of SOTH) was given by Rev. Dexter's family and a picture of SOTH was given by the Jones family. Both pictures were painted by Carl Johnson of Galena. There was 208 people who attended the dedication.

Following the service everyone was invited down to a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall and could take a tour of the new facility.

We have a few more things to finish up to have the project completed. The elevator, a few light fixtures and the secretary's office to complete. Sorry if you were unable to celebrate with us at the dedication but you are welcome to attend a Sunday Service with us and tour the building after service.

We are now in the process of working on the landscaping. The grass has been planted, rocks have been moved in and the hills reshaped.
